About Faridabad

Faridabad is the largest City and one of the major industrial hubs of Haryana. Faridabad is a city in the south-east of Haryana state in north  India, in Faridabad district. The district shares its boundaries with the National Capital and Union Territory of Delhi to its north, Gurgaon district to the west and Uttar Pradesh to its east and south. Faridabad enjoys a prime location both geographically and politically. The river Yamuna separates the Faridabad Boundary on eastern side with Uttar Pradesh. Delhi-Agra National Highway No.2 (Shershah Suri Marg) passes through the centre of the district. Faridabad has railway stations on the Delhi-Mathura double track broad-gauge line of the North Central Railway. The railway stations of Old Faridabad and New Industrial Township (NIT) are the major ones.

 

Faridabad History

Faridabad was founded in A.D. 1607 by Shaikh Farid, treasurer of Jahangir, with the object of protecting the highway which passed through the town. Shaikh Farid built a fort, a tank and a mosque which are in runins. Later, it becomes the headquaters of a pargana which was held in jagir by the Ballabgarh ruler. Faridabad became 12th District of Haryana State on 15th August, 1979. Faridabad is about 25 Kilometers from Delhi in 28o 25' 16" North Latitude and 77o 18' 28" East Longitude.It is bounded by Union Territory of Delhi (National Capital) on its north, Gurgaon District on the west, Palwal District on the south and State of Utter Pradesh on its east. Delhi-Mathura National Highway No.2 (Shershah Suri Marg) passes thru middle of District. It has a railway station on the Delhi-Mathura broad-gauge line of the Indian Railway.

Faridabad generates more than 50% of the revenue of the state. 50% of the income tax collected in Haryana is from Faridabad and Gurgaon. Reach Faridabad By Rail. Faridabad is on the broad gauge of New Delhi- Mumbai Line. New Delhi and Hazrat Nizammudin Railway Station is about 25 km away from Faridabad Station. Main trains for big cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad are easily accessible from here. Local Trains runs between Delhi to Faridabad. Three railway stations in Faridabad, First is Faridabad (FDB), Second is New Industrial Town Faridabad (NIT Faridabad) and Third is Ballabgarh (BVH). Faridabad is a very high revenue generating source for railways as thousands of people move daily in local trains to and from Delhi.

Metro in Faridabad : Delhi Metro has decided to extend the metro rail service to the Faridabad. Faridabad Metro will be along with NH2 - Mathura Road from Badarpur border to YMCA Chowk in Faridabad. Metro Stations on Faridabad Metro Line will be Sarai Khawaja, NHPC Chowk, Old Faridabad, NIT, YMCA Chowk.
